Hey guys,

I am looking to get into water cooling and overclocking. The thing is I have no idea with all of the selection of parts. I realize that danger den is good but beyond that Im clueless. I plan on cooling my cpu alone for now and maybe my video card when i upgrade. I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible. Think bang-for-the-buck. I'd like to have a bay res and thats about the only requirement.

Tubing/Clamps/T-line at Hardware Store : $10

For the waterblock cheap yet good options are the Swiftech MCW6000, Dtek Whitewater, DangerDen TDX, Swiftech Apogee. You should try to find one of these, or another decent block used to save money. New they can cost from 35-50$

For the pump your cheapest option would be an aquarium pump like a Via Aqua. If you end up getting a cheap aquarium pump however I would steer away from the TDX and the Whitewater as those blocks excel when they get higher flow rates. You could splurge and get a DC pump for the added convenience. The CSP Mag pump is 50$ new, might be able to find it even cheaper used.

i'm only putting this up because i JUST posted a very similar loop in response to someone else.

you'd still need odds and ends to get it up and running, and that pump is cutting things down to the bone.

odds and ends include: hose clamps, distilled water, T-line, antifreeze and maybe a thing or two that i'm not thinking of just now. the odd items listed should be like $10 i think. a cheap relay to control the pump would also be good, but with such a low budget........

edit: if you can find a MCW6002 for a64 on clearence, more's the better. most places i'm seeing only the oddball s462 and xeon versions in stock.
 
I have been using this pump for 6 months. Quiet and one of the best flow rates for the price. Biggest neg is that it is AC.

Swiftech blocks seem to be a great value. For some reason I liked the fact they were solid copper with no plastic. But their new blocks look decent too.

malicious, no offense dude, but that is like the umpteenth time you have made the exact same post with the exact same 2 large pictures in multiple different threads. Your setup is very nice...but I am not sure if it is THAT nice. You could just post a link to one of the many other posts you have made with the same exact thing instead of constantly posting it over and over and over again.

If it'll help him out I have an eheim 1250 I'd sell him for $40 shipped....would this be better than that via aqua pump?

aww how come you chose the d4 instead of the d5 pump? the d5 is the newer model, same price too...
 
I think it would be easy enough to cut the water lines add a couple of tee barbs and take to the video card I do call that upgradable.
 
I don't think the pump has the power to run anything in parallel... Especially not with a couple of T lines... I think this thing has just enough power to cool a processor, with the limited length of tubing already supplied :eek:

is this inlet? i only see 1 barb so i dont know. and what does AC mean? im new to this. but yea thats a very nice price for a poor guy like me.

any other thoughts on it?
 
AC = Alternating Current, the type of electricity that comes out of your wall socket

DC = Direct Current, the type of electricity that comes out of your power supply.

Having an AC pump means that it is plugged into the wall. Unless you use some sort of relay, the pump turns on and off independently of your computer, which could be a problem and a hassle.
 
All you need for a ac pump is an icecube relay with a 12volt coil and tie it in your psu and it will turn on when you turn on your computer could be a great mod add leds to the inside of the icecube relay cooooool!
