I want to build a hybrid system.
Sort of a High Performance version Hybrid Car ;-)
To that end I want to merge my existing gas powered (read high thread count) 2 x Xeon half with a 2nd new electric powered (read high IPC) CPU.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
1 - Gaming (BFBC2, B1 and Racing Games)
2 - Front End for a bunch or Remote Desktop Clients
3 - Front End for a bunch of VNC connections
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
N/A
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
London, UK
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
1 - CPU
2 - Mobo
3 - RAM
4 - System SSD
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
1 - PSU Corsair AX 1500i
2 - GPU RX 480
3 - Case Thermaltake Core X9
6) Will you be overclocking?
YES
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
4960x1600 (PLP), but mostly game at 2560x1600
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
ASAP
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
1 - Fastest booting possible
2 - Good overclocker
3 - Micro-ATX or ATX form factor
4 - Prefer Red/Black colour scheme to go with rest of system.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes, Windows 10 x64.
Would like CPU's best for gaming, since all my VMs, development, encoding, etc will be running off my Xeon "backend".
Big question is, is an i5 or an i7 going to give me the best chance of IPC. Or if Ryzen comes close.
How much ram, is 16GB enough?
SSD something like a Samsung 500GB M.2?
Thanks
