I going to need a new rig for college, as the the old one just isn't cutting it. But I dont know what to do. So I put the build in all of your talented hands. I am going to re-use as much as I can, but I want to see what you guys can come up with.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, general College Activities
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
I dont want to go over 700 with tax and ship

3) Where do you live?
leetonia ohio

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very
Ram
Mobo
Cpu (depends on what the build says, I can reuse the old one)
video card
case
sata dvd drive
specific.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about
the power supply. List make and model.
Hard drive (500gb seagate)
power supply (Cooler master real power pro 650W)
6) Will you be overclocking?]no

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
19"
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
as soon as possible

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license?
have xp-but I think Im going to need to step it up a bit.

What are the specs of the old computer? it will help out a lot to see if there really is anything else worth salvaging.

NM.... I see the SIG

Honestly you might be able to just get away with more ram and a better video card.

Your board supports Phenoms as well so you can get a quad or tri-core in there as well.

You can pick up 4gb of DDR2 800 for under $40 dollars.

Quad or Tri-core CPU will run for under $200

Video card there are endless possibilities and on a 19in (1280x1024?) you can get away with a lot of different cards that will run you under 100 dollars. Things like 4850, 9800, 9600s. just tons of options.

I dont think the Phenom IIs work on his board. CPU chart at gigabyte said N/A. He could certainly get away with a cheaper video card unless you plan to get a bigger monitor soon.

Well I was thinking of getting a new case as well. Something thats a bit smaller than what I have now, I also need something that has decent cooling. I looked at possibly doing a lanbox using the NZXT rogue case, and I looked at an antec 300, but Im not sure what to do. I have a beat up logisys area 51 right now, and its not holding up so well.
