I havnet built a computer since the AMD athlon64 days, so all these new techno stuff had me confused at first. Mainly just making sure everything will be compatible.

Its mostly for some slight database work (postgresql, etc etc), and video editing, with games. I don't really foresee storing anything on it, I have other drives for that.

One question I did have is the heatsink. I looked at the nt06-e and I think that should do the trick if I have a fan on it. are there really any other options???
 
All good even if using the stock HS. The Zotac H55 board has a few issues, maybe Intel's DH57JG would be a safer bet

IMHO the best HS for these case/mainboards is the Corsair H50. The CPU placement on H55/H57 boards make it extremely difficult to find a suitable heatsink.
 
i'm a bit apprehensive about the h50. Its not about the money or that it uses water, but I get the feeling that I'll have to end up modding the case to get everything to fit. I'm really not looking for a project. If anyone can direct me to some sugo06 cases with h50s that would be nice.

I'm mostly concerned about the noise output with the stock hsf, which is why I asked about the nt06. I just cannot have a wind turbine. That would drive me nuts.

With the intel board, i'll look into it. But I'd need to get a wireless card or find my 25ft ethernet cable that I haven't seen in a few years. I'm not an overclocker or someone who runs everything at the highest settings. Just looking for something competent for 1920x1200.
 
My set up is almost identical to yours but I opted for the ECS motherboard. If you are running everything at stock or near stock settings the ECS H55H-I may be the way to go.

I'm running a GeminII S but I had to mod the crap out of it to get it to fit on that ECS board. My setup is nearly silent though.
 
Here is mine. With an H50 the 3.5'' hard drive cage needs to be taken out by removing four screws.

Also the front panel snaps off and you have access to where the 120mm fan screws in, I just matched up a drill bit and lowered each hole by a quarter inch. Then I was able to screw it directly into the case.

This mod took 20 minutes.

No need to mod, corsair itself made a little howto here
 
After I lowered it a quarter inch I was able to screw the fan directly into the radiator, although not shown in my picture, I think is a better solution than zip ties which I used initially.
 
fr500, Do you think you could use your Doublesided Tape ingenuiity to tape a 3.5" drive underneat the 2.5" bay? I was thinking of suspending a 3.5" by by elastic cords otherwise to reduce drive noise.
 
It may be doable I think, there is certainly enough space, the tape will probably not hold very well as HDD's are heavy and will fall down.and you don't want that though.
