There is an interesting article on Anandtech here: http://anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=3724

It basically goes saying the i3 530 is a good bang for the buck processor for a gamer (if I got that right).

How would the perfect build around the i3 530 could be, taking into ease of future upgradeable ability? Or is it really a good bang for the buck build is there other effective gaming buildings that we should look at?

Well its kinda true but x2 550 is about $35 cheaper and intel boards still cost about $30-$50 more than AMD ones. That could be the difference in getting a better video card on a budget.

for the cost the i3 isnt worth it.. ya might as well go for the i5 at those prices.. better performance bang for the buck with the i5's vs the i3's which are just hyperthreaded dual cores.. id take 4 physical cores over the i3 any day.. unless you plan to run crossfire or SLI with high end cards theres almost 0 difference between an phenom II x2 550BE and an i7 920.. sure theres a couple games that you see the difference in like GTA4 and well the majority of console port games but they look so bad on PC that it really doesnt matter.. now if you get into crossfire or SLI then you want to start looking and quad cores and higher..
