Buggiest games ever thread! List them.....

My vote is won by Daggerfall also, god I loved that game. I would wait at the edge of my seat for their newest patch. Crashing every few minutes really sucked ass

i can't remember the name, but i remember this game, for the PS2(i THINK). a driving game, where there was no sound, and no collision detection, and you could drive off the map and just keep driving....like...for hours...on the blank screen......

buggy? you bet your ass

Serious Sam 2 (note - not Second Edition)

My rig can handle everything I throw at it (FEAR, BF2, Doom 3, etc.) except this POS. Everytime a cut scene happens, it'll hard-lock pretty quickly. I've tried latest patches, DX9 updates, uninstall/reinstall, etc. to no avail. I can make it through the cut scenes on my laptop, but it's not as beefy in specs, so I'd much rather play it on my tower.

I have the EXACT same problem on my system..really annoying that it STILL hasnt been fixed yet. I came into Tribes 2 after the last patch was released, guess they had most things fixed by then because i never had any issues except for the odd UE.

True Crime: New York City on XBOX for me.

The game crashed on me atleast 8 times where it would freeze the picture and a loud "BRRRRRR" would just continue.

There was bad physics when driving a car that would allow it to be like a bouncy ball on the moon when you hit something (not often).

Sometimes the screen would go texture less while driving and the map is gone for a minute until comming back.

One bug that made me throw my controller really hard is on a mission that takes you a while to get to the end (many bad guys to face hand to hand). Just before you reach the main guy to interogate him, you face a "sumo" match against someone on a hanging container (like for container ships). You have to tap X or A as it tells you in the corner (it will change back and forth) and when you get him to the end it says push B to push him off....AND IT DOESN'T DO IT. I had to do the stupid thing with the guy at the edge for like 3 minutes pushing B before it would toss him. He killed me twice because I had no idea what to do since it will still say push B after he pushes you to the other end (do not know wether to push X or A). I just randomly got it to work after 3 minutes.

The game was not terribly buggy, but I think a console game crashing in the middle of a mission (especially if long) or just randomly where you have not saved in a while SUCKS.

True Crime: Streets of LA worked perfect for me on XBOX.

You see they don't finish the games any more. They release a game that has a start, middle and ending but is flawed to hell. Now they have your money so they move on to the next project. But to keep making more money they release a few dozen patchs that fix one thing then break 3 more things. That makes you say... "well they are going to fix the team killing problem with the next patch! I'll go out and buy the expansion!"

So now you have bought a flawed game, they give you a patch to fix one thing, so your happy, then they throw you a red harring in the form of an expansion pack, which makes you forget about the 3 new bugs introduced in the patch. If you don't buy the over priced pack, you will get owned buy the ones who did buy it. Now you have no choice but to play the flawed game and buy the costly packs and hope that one fucking day they might fix the errors.

But Wait theres more, You see they change the game around with each new patch, so the game you bought in the begining is no longer the game you are playing, the sounds are changed the maps are changed and everything you were enjoying has a new spin on it. So now that you have invested all this time and money in the flawed game that isn't even the same game you bought, they toss YET another pack at you. Now just to play need to have the game patched 4 or 5 times, and to enjoy the game you need the two packs.

After Months and months or playing and building up your stats, a new patch is released and this patch causes you to lose your account info. But do they try to help you out? No fucking way! You have to start all over again and this insures that you will keep playing there game for another year at least and just when you are getting sick of the game, a new exspansion pack will be released, which you have to buy. this pack will have an outdated patch installed in it, which means you have to reinstall the new patch over the game again.

Two weeks after that pack is released and you have spent countless hours just trying to get the game to play, a NEW GAME will be released by the company, making the old game outdated and lame! The cycle then continues!

Thats what publishers do to developers!

Ive been generaly dissapointed in EA. Battlefield in particular because of what has been said before. And generally No widescreen in this day and age in their games turns me off. So until they change their ways im voting with my wallet.

but i would have to say KOTOR2 right now for me. the game is unplayable on my computer with textures and the like messing up at every turn :(

@##&*%*@#% EA.

Same pretty much goes for Vivendi as well.

Oh, I don't disagree. They have basically taken every game I've liked, rehashed it, and published it when it was about 2/3rds done.

Big rigs: Over the road racing?
It was a PC game, but the complete lack of sound, collision or map boundries fit your description. If memory serves the "AI" opponent would just sit at the starting line as well, and you'd get a big banner "You're winner" when crossing the finish line.

Battlefield 2

you tell me after I patched it everytime I still see some Teammates with red over their head and I go to kill them and I get a TK. Hell I get killed a few times when it happends to other people. I know when someone is a POS TKer when they kill 10 times in a row, but when it happens once in a while it's BS. Oh and it gets better when the enemy is shown in blue. You stand there and look at them for a sec and say to yourself, "he looks like the enemy...should I shoot? Naw he's in blue. He's cool" *BANG* "SOB it was an an enemy."

But you know, I love the danm game so much I keep going back to it. I feel like Tina crawling back to Ike on a daily basis.

It's the latest games that seem to be more buggy than ever.

Half Life 2 was very unstable. I had the dreaded stutter problem, which completely spoilt the game and randomly locked up my PC on numerous occasions. I don't think I've had to reboot my machine more often for any game before or since.

Also Vampires Bloodlines was an absolute shambles (another Source game). It was so unfinished and buggy I gave up on it.

Tomb Raider AOD was also a gaming low for bugs. The development team made a total mess of the game engine. The controls for Lara would randomly change. It's impossible to mention all the bugs, there were so many

There was an old Amiga game which stood out too. The game engine graphics were made up of Eliptoids and you couldn't pick up more than 1 weapon at a time. The game had a sort of sorcery feel to it. There was a bug in the game which prevented you from proceeding. I can't remember the name of it though!.

Definatley Advent Rising for me...so buggy yet good anough for me to play it all the way thru.

Yeah what a horribly hyped game, I remember it being in development for way too long. It seemed kind of dated when it came out. Not to mention it had some serious frame-rate issues.

the only game I had major issues with was Knights of the Old Republic 2. It would crash every 15 minutes, I would have to do a hard boot, play crash 15 minutes later. I redid my system, updated everything, the only think I had on there, was an updated OS, drivers, anti-virus, and the game, still crashed every 15 minutes. I played and beat the game like that. Then had to do a reinstall afterwards, lol

Vampire Masquerades was a very fun game though. I remember beating it, even if it required me to install a special patch because it was so broken. Troika = RIP

From what I hear there are several fan made patches that fix a lot of the bugs in the game.

Too lazy to read this and see if it has been mentioned yet but....

Trespasser...

That game is so awesome, and all the glitchiness just added to it.

World of Warcraft when it was first launched

And comically it still is. The lag and the queues were just insane. If anybody played Blackwing Lair when it was first released on a high population server, I would be surprised if you didn't quit the damn game. I know I did.

and last but not least *drum roll*

BATTLEFIELD 2
^^ that and other ea games like Battlefield Vietnam, never in my life have I seen a game eat up so much ram... 450mb system ram 1.5gb page file. not only that but it took 3-4 tries to get it installed.

Also driver 2 for the console... it locked up more than windows me!

or that flaming giant turd of ragnaros that they called a "well balanced encounter" seriously every time they try to put something high end into the game they either try to get too creative and make it so unbearably difficult (to the point where you have to rely on chance) or they make the zone so slow moving you want to kill your guild mates...

Soldier of Fortune, best multiplayer gaming imho but its filled with bugs and hacks these are all done in game without aid of any outside programs!

Respawn with what appears to be armor.
Ability to connect to a Passworded server
Override Max spectators.
Invisibility.
Slow down
Freeze in midair
Speed Cheat.
Overide RCON.
Mask your IP
Wallhack
Health Hack
Weapon Drop
Flag Passing through Floors and Walls.
See through certain walls in certain areas.
4th Wave animation
Invisible names.
Colored Names.
(Unconfirmed) Nade Spamming
Have knives float around in circles.
Spectator takes control of player.
Deadbody still shoots at you.

Thats all I remember.

Someone already mentioned Outpost, but I didn't see anyone mention the Holy Grail of buggy games, Battlecruiser 3000.

I was looking for the first mention of this game.

There was one big release back in the early 90s that was about as buggy...I wish I could remember what it was now.

Gothic was a great game, but man was it ever buggy. I remember NPC's getting stuck on certain objects and areas. It even had a bug that if you killed a certain guy it would pretty much make the game unplayable from there on out. Damn if I ever didnt love that game though. Just had to make sure my save was backed up.

Also I wanna put the Source engine on here. I still get random errors from it every now and then on both my media pc and my desktop rig. Isolated incidences they are not. Also the weird sticky feeling when you touch any object or your teammates is bs. How long has it taken Valve to get the friends list working right. I mean come on, these are basic problems that very easily could have been fixed. Damn you Valve, but I love you too (DoD sigh).

One thing I noticed about this thread is that everyone seems to dislike EA as much as me. Im glad to see that people are finally noticing what a foolish and evil company EA is.

Might I add WWF NO Mercy for the N64, when that first released there was a glitch that caused all your catridge saved data to be erased.

When THQ/JAKKS recalled the game and allowed customers to exchange their copy from the retailer, the new version had done away with blood.

I can't believe we're not seeing more about Superman 64....This game came out near the end of the Nintendo 64's life, but it looked so washed out and bad, it coulda been released on Genesis....Hardly any music, Superman ran and controlled like he was wearing bricks for shoes, you'd get stuck in walls or fall through the floor into nothingness, the same lame puzzles repeated over and over....and I think this was the first time I played a console game that could crash and freeze! Just like PC! It was kinda amusing though, like watching a bad 80s horror movie, it just seemed almost impossibly bad.

Yeah Bethesda has a problem releasing extremely buggy games, but damn are they ever fun. I just dont think they test the game enough over a variety of systems. Oh Well, for a game this big, a few bugs are expected.
