Hi there, new to this forum and OC pcs. I have a acer desktop e2140 that has no bios overclock options. i have applied the bsel and volt mod successfully. i'm using clockgen to gain a few extra hundred mhz but have noticed some weird behavior:

i put 3076.10 as the cpu clock in clockgen and hit apply but my system only goes to 2460 (up from 2133 with the hardware mod) why does clockgen have this discrepancy? i have disabled thermal management, c1e, speedstep in bios. my ram is 2gb ddr2-533 (mobo doesn't support 800mhz)

1. i would be really happy if my system was actually be @ 3076...any ideas on how to fix that?

2. should i expect more with this speed ram or is this the max?
 
It's possible that you have it set to a different PLL than the one your board is actually using, in which case the clocks wouldn't be handled properly. As for your RAM, I doubt you'll be able to get a whole lot more out of it, since you're already running at a quite significant increase over their rated speed.
 
id have to agree with zero on this one.. its probably set to a different PLL so its reading your cpu multiplier incorrectly and thus what fsb it would use at 3ghz is not the same for the cpu you have..

though i have to say that memory looks way off.. 480mhz would put it at 960mhz.. way over what it should be able to run..

currently with your present overclock your at 768mhz right now..
 
thanks for the quick replies. you guys are spot on, the chip on my mobo does not completely match the one in clockgen. the first part - 9PLR is the same, the few numbers that follow are different and do not match anything in clockgen currently. i guess this will have to do until i get a new mobo, thanks again!
