Budget Video Card

Well my friend wants to start building his first PC.
He will be using it for your everyday things like internet. word processing and games.

I just wanted the [H]'s opinion on a good video card in the $100 range. That would allow him to play (lets say doom3) but it does not have to have all eye candy turned on.

I might be able to get him to up the price to $150 so I know the 9600XT is the highest he can go. But could you guys give me another alternative incase he can not get the extra cash.

how bout a 9600pro,mine runs everything with medium to high graphics settings

how about no eye candy for that price range.
if all else fails get a 4200 or something.
but try to talk him up to a 9600xt as it will last alot longer.
