Budget sound card help?

I want to purchase a sound card for under $30, im hoping this will fix the sound looping problem that i have with Doom3. Cause right now im using my dell onboard sound, and everytime i play Doom3 i have a descent frame rate just the sound is bad. Any suggestions on this matter
 
Are the usb sound devices alright, cause i ran out of space with my three pci slots
 
i think they are alright, but i'm not sure whether you'll find one for under $30.
have you tried updating the audio drivers or tweaking Doom3's config to eliminate the looping sound?
 
updated the audio drivers, and doom3 where would i tweak that cause i went into the game options nothing in there was of any help
 
i don't have doom 3 installed at this moment, but there is a .cfg file in the doom3/base/ directory. you can edit this file in order to change some settings which aren't available inside the game. anyway, go to some popular doom 3 website that has a message forum and search it for performance tweaks. they might mention something regarding sound.
 
What do you mean by bad? As in low quality?

If that is the case then tweaks will not help with your onboard sound. Some others know more about sound cards than I do, and they could have good ideas as to a cheap sound card to get.
 
Well Doom3 from the get go worked fine on my comp, but then in the past 2months or so its performance went under.

i dont think doom3 problem has anything to do with your sc as doom3 does every bit of its wonderful surround in cpu and sc has no role whatsoever in it.........
 
If you want to enhance your gaming audio, there's really only one game in town. Creative. Free up a PCI slot.

However, if it was working before, it should work again. You likely have a configuration problem of some kind. Uninstall the drivers and reinstall them.
 
well now windows is saying that my sound volume file is not installed :confused: , cause i have no sound volume control for my sytem. Also i dont know what onboard sound dell put into my system, and the owners manual just says "integrated audio" Yea thats so much help thank you dell

I'd check the BIOS (or does Dell completely lock out of it?) to make sure that the onboard sound is still set to auto/enable/on. Then I'd see if there are possibly and drivers to the onboard sound that came with your computer or on Dell's site. Then I'd simply call them and see what it could possibly be.
 
I keep it cool at about 1280-1024 on my 15inch dell crt :cool: For the bios, options are limited on a dell set-up but ill check it out
 
you happy now, cleaned that up a bit made it a lil' easier on the eyes :)
and to think i just guessed as to what size to make that pic
