Alright everyone if you havent read my other thread then heres the situation. something happened to my desktop while i was doing a little wire management. so I decided it was time to get a new PSU. The one I have now is a 400W stock POS. so I would like to get a modular PSU that is preferably red and at least 600W what are some good companies and prices? Thanks

Do you know how much watts you really need? Can you go lower than 600?

The HX620 will be your best friend here, though if you don't actually need that power, I would invest in the 520 instead. As in the other thread, please post your specs.

im really looking for at least a 600. Really just because i need an upgrade and i am going to be upgrading to dual 8600/8800 if i can afford it.

Post the specs of your PC and we can help you better. You may not actually need 600W. Also, 8600SLI is a really bad choice considering that a single 8800GTS 320MB can outperform two 8600GTS SLI and for roughly the same price. In addition, you only need 8800SLI if you're gaming on a 24+ monitor.

Also, don't see any other thread you've made on this forum. It may have been lost during the forum outage a week ago.

I'm also looking at a budget PSU - somewhere in the $40-60 range. Any suggestions based on the following set up?

Abit IP35-E
E6850 Core2Duo
2GB Kingston Value
ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT (with room to upgrade to a 7900GTX or 8600GT)

I've been considering the following, solely based on reviews:

Thermaltake W0093RU ATX 12V 2.0 Version 500W
Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC ATX 430W Power Supply

Not sure if using a 4-pin CPU power instead of an 8-pin would be a problem. Anyone know an attractive PSU that falls into my range and also offers an 8-pin?

I think a few things need to be addressed... The Corsair, while very good PSU's are NOT budget by any means. That's like someone who's on a budget asking for advise on what car to purchase that has some balls, and someone else recomending a Ferrari.

Anyway, FSP is probably my #1 choice for budget PSU's.

With that kind of load, you do not need a 600W PSU. You could make do with a quality 450W or even 400W PSU. But since there are plenty of quality 500W PSU in that price range, might as well go get one now. I recommend the following:
XCLIO Goodpower 500W PSU - $50
Enhance ENP-5150GH 500W PSU - $69

does not have a 8-pin. Considering no other real alternative was given, it's what i ended up getting. I'm open ears to any solution you guys have that takes into consideration my cost and hardware requirements.

I hate settling for sub-par. Both my other systems run PPC & Seasonics. However there is a strict budget for this single GPU system and no room for spending $100+ on a PSU.

Well that Enhance PSU that I linked to has an 8pin connection and it's only $69.

Also, I concur with Paul_Johnson, forget the Coolmax PSU.
