I am looking for a PSU for my son's computer. It will only be used a few days a month.

Specs are
Athlon X2 4200
Asrock Mainboard
Radeon X1950XTX

I am trying to be as frugal as possible (cheap), but I want it want it to work for him. Here is what I have found so far....

Has a single 12V rail of 30amps 80plus
CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Power Supply - Retail $62.42 shipped and has a $20 rebate

Has 2 12 rails of 18amps
OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS 500W ATX12V / EPS12V Active PFC Power Supply - Retail $59.99 with free shipping and also a $35 rebate

Has 2 12rails of 17amps 80plus (looks to be a OEM bare)
Antec Earthwatts EA-500D - Power Supply over at PCBoost for $40 with free shipping.

How is PC Boost? Which would be my best choice and is there another model you would recommend?

Earthwatts should be fine. I would consider PC Power & Cooling if you're looking to upgrade in the future.

For the system that you have, any of those will work just fine. But like the above post, if you plan on upgrading, it's not a bad idea to get the PCP considering the price.

Also, not sure about that company as well that's selling the earthwatts. I woudl try to stick to more reputable places.

Thanks guys, I went with this one.

Free shipping and a $20 rebate.

I've never heard of PCboost and the Corsair is a good choice too.

I won't be upgrading his computer most likely, but I am considering putting that new PCP&P PSU in my own PC and then putting my aging CoolerMaster Real Power 425 in his. My PC is on constantly and will be good use for a 80 plus PSU.

..I also ordered him a COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 case to match his brothers case that we built a few years ago.

So, thanks for the advice, he will be one real happy CS:S player when it all gets here.
