Budget GPU upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade my work's lab with 20 budget Nvidia GPUs. These GPUs will, at times, be able to fold for the [H]. What is the best card under $100 for folding? The better the price/performance ratio the better!

They will be put in Dell Precision workstations with 3GHZ P4s with 2GB of RAM. Most of the time the workstations will be used for 3D modeling apps. I'm sure modern video cards will be severely CPU limited, but any upgrade will be better than their ancient Quadros.

I gather it will it be 8800GS, or 9600GSO, 9600GT. I'm crossing my fingers the 400w power supplies will hold out.

 
It realy comes down to what deal newegg is running when you place theorder. The 8800GS and 9800GSO are the same card. Id go with one of thoes, what ever is cheaper.
 
I wouldn't do anything under a 8800gt. You can be penny wise and pound foolish real quick with some of the other options out there IMO.
 
A 9600GT is pretty much equal to a 8800GT. From what I've read it looks like the 9600GT is slightly faster and uses slightly less power than the 9600GSO, but I don't think its going to matter when its being fed by P4s.

But, I think If I'm ordering on Monday I've got to go with the 9600GSO. Right now it seems to be the cheapest at 90 shipped from the Egg. When you have a budget of around 1700 dollars, and you're buying 17-20 cards, that additional 8-15 dollars adds up fast. I'm also not eligible for the rebates, so that kind of kills most deals.

 
I would contact Galaxy (new advertiser) and tell them you budget and what you want to get. That could get you what you want, and will show support for the [H]orde, and the forums. They might be able to get you what you are looking for (20gpu) for your 1700 budget.
