Looking to start a new build this weekend. Usually I get entrenched in review articles and such for a solid month before making any purchase decisions, but I don't have that much time before I want to get this system so I ask for help from the [H].
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Light gaming, particularly Minecraft, Diablo 3, and HotS.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Budget is between $400 and $500.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
Norman, Oklahoma. Making a trip to Dallas this weekend with some friends to hit up a Fry's to buy this system.
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
I'd like a current get GPU if it can be fit in the budget, however, I have a GTX 580 I can salvage from a current system should it be required. I also have an SSD on hand, not the biggest in space but it should help bring the cost down. My previous sound card (Xonar Essence STX) should also suffice for this build, so I should be okay on that, as well. I will require a new PSU, CPU, Heatsink, MB, RAM, and Case (preferably a smaller Corsair case with room for a full length GPU), and if possible, current gen GPU. At least 8GB RAM is a must.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Samsung 930 160GB SSD
EVGA GTX 580 (if current gen GPU can't be fit in budget)
ASUS Xonar Essence STX sound card
6) Will you be overclocking?
Not interested in overclocking this build. I would like a relatively high per-thread clock on the CPU to prevent any sort of bottleneck, rather than overclocking.
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
30" 2560x1600
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
This weekend (March 7).
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
SLI/Crossfire would be nice, I like the idea of it being upgradeable, but it's not required.
USB 3.0
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
I have a Windows 7 64-bit license.
