I'm making a build for a friend of mine. He's only going to use it to play Kerbal Space Program.

Would an HD 7770 be powerful enough, matched with an i3 2120, to run the game adequately? He really has no interest in pc gaming beyond KSP.

Here is the problem with Kerbal.

Beginning of game - Barely uses your GPU

Later in the game.. Massive space stations and high strut counts = Can cripple a Titan on high settings.

Edit. I forgot.. KSP Is CPU based.. If your friend isn't worried about high AA the 7770 should be fine..

The CPU is fine. From what I've read over on the KSP forums I suspect the GPU is fine too if he's playing at 1080p or less.

With KSP CPU speed is generally much more important than GPU until you get up to extremely high resolutions. My HD7970 is super smooth at 1080p, but gets a little choppy at 4k when rendering horizons on planets with oceans.
