so i just set up my new wc system, and now i get air bubles from the resevoir. how can i stop this? the one i have is a DIY one. did i make the return ports too high? is there any way to fix this? or do i have to get another res.?

are the bubbles confined to the top of the res? or is the water getting so churned up in the res that air is drawn into the pump?

I sounds and looks like the return lines are pushing water quite aggressively back into the res meaning the water and air is mixed up a lot and causing bubbles even down at the outlet of the res meaning they get drawn into the pump...i dunno how to solve this off the top of my head but i imagine having the return ports lower down would help...ie so they are lower than the water level...

i think you put a little to much water wetter in.... there is a way to fix this with out draining everything though.

Find a sponge
(NOT the organic kind one of the coarse plastic kind work better they have bigger holes that let air and water pass through easier)
and stick it in the top of you your res so that there is alittle bit o water above the sponge. From the looks of your res you might have to fill it a bit more.

Anyways next time i would suggest not putting so much water wetter in it tends to cause lots of bubbling ... ie the water should not turn pink. I use less than a cap ful usually so....

P.S. i almost forgot... leave the cap off your res for awhile after you do this ... that will allow the air to escape... if you want just set it on top but leave it cracked

I think your top two intakes into the res are too high up. if they were lower then the air would RISE instead of the stream hitting air and the water pushing some air down in the res.
