Hi all,

I was thinking about getting a new thermaltake tower case seeing as the current one I have is pretty cramped and lacking in air circulation. However i am a little hesitant in laying down 200 AUD if im basically going to be forced to buy a new case in the next round of upgrades. So basically my question is whether the new BTX power standards will require a new case that can fit BTX power supplies or will current cases suffice?

BTX isnt due for quite awhile, and even then will slowly make its way into the market. ATX will be around for years and years. And thats IF BTX actually takes off.

chances are that as long as all the peripheral slots are in the same place as the atx motherboard they will just add holes in the case to adjust for the new form factor (sort of like AT to ATX). i and yea what defiant said too.

Well thats what I would have thought initially, but the whole agressive push towards pci-e by intel has made me a bit apprehensive. Now thats something that you would have thought would take a couple of years, but you just get the impression that you have no choice in terms of your next upgrade, especially seeing as ATI and Nvidia are dropping agp [yeah I know about Nvidias bridged solution, but most ppl seem to think that they are going about it the wrong way.....ala NV30 and DX9].

Anywayz I hope your right, thermaltake cases look so sweeeeet :D

The peripheral slots are not in the same place. They are switched around with the motherboard's own conenctor backplane, making a clean conversion impossible.

Hate to brake it to ya, but BTX is completely diffrent. The case will open on the right hand side. Opposite of ATX... no way to just "drill a few holes" to get it to work. :(
