BSOD Issues win7 x64

Hey guys,

I have been trying to rectify a problem that has been starting to cause some more trouble than usual.

I am running a win7 x64 ultimate machine i built back in the summer, and what is causing the BSOD is not a mystery. Spending lots of quality time with google and bluescreen viewer has revealed that ntoskrnl.exe is the culprit. I have ran memory checks, and my hardware is fine. I have not submitted my .dmp files to have them analyzed, and I still plan on doing that.

Windows update is what I believe has corrupted ntoskrnl.exe and has left me in a pickle. This is a presentation computer, recording station and host for an IP camera surveillance system. My hardware is rock solid and not overclocked, and there is no question if the pc is up to these tasks. But, when I get a random BSOD caused by this corrupt yet critically important file, it compromises several areas between media hosting and surveillance recording stability are required. Not really worried about leaving the computer on all the time, its on a massive battery backup with a Furman PL8-C.
Here is my hardware:
-Core i7 4770k
-Gigabyte G1 Sniper M5
-16GB Corsair Dominator, supported by Gigabyte and configured properly.
-240GB Sandist Extreme II
-Asus DVD R/RW
-Geforce 770GTX

It might be important to note that my audio device is a USB 2.0 Focusrite interface, onboard audio is disabled.

I researched an option where one is able to do a repair install with minimal need to have stuff fixed once done, but as I have an oem disc supplied by a local computer shop ( we did buy it with a liscense btw) I don't think that is an option.

If anyone has any suggestions where I go from here trying to repair the ntoskrnl.exe issue without reinstalling windows completely ( will have to reinstall video insight, ableton live, and all my finnicky plugins) that would be super.

Thanks a million,
-Will

You should PROBABLY start by posting your BSOD screenshot or event log entry.

What is your PSU?

Have you tried reinstalling Windows? Ran SFC command??

Would have posted that info seanmcd, but I'm a new member here and I didnt want to overwhelm. Check the bottom of this post for bluescreenviewer screenshot. I can keep them coming jsut let me know what you need.

PSU- Seasonic MI12 650w

Have reinstalled windows with no peripherals attached, operated windows with no/ minimum peripherals attached.

I have run SFC. sfc /SCANNOW in an administrator prompt. Came back clean.
I finally got my diskstation configured, so i can sync my files and not really worry about reinstalling windows again. It is important to know that even though this is wrong to do, when i reinstalled i did not format but allowed used the whole windows/ windows.old option b/c at the time i had some finnicky plugins that were hard to register i tried to save, for my Ableton Live software.

I am attaching the entry from bluescreenviewer.

I will google some information on determining whether or not my ssd is bad or not. At least it is under warranty.

If I am not on here I am on cumminsforum, so if my etiquette is "off" from the general public, I apologize. LOL

Anyways, thanks everyone for the responses.

I'm trying to locate the .dmp file. Will link for download when I find.

EDIT- am I looking for memory.dmp? That is a 1GB file lol.

Can you open notepad and drop the dmp file on it. Look for relevant data, my understanding is the last dump data will be amended to the end.
(sorry a bit out of practice)

There is a similar thread here (not on this forum), one of your drivers is probably the cause of the BSODs. It would really help if you put your dump files up online.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the hospitality. I am going to have to dig a little for the .dmp file so bear with me. Everything I am doing I am doing through teamviewer remote, and I would much rather be at the office where the actual pc in question is.

My ssd is healthy and I know my psu is not the culprit.

At this point, I will probably wipe the ssd and do a clean install.

When I built this pc in july, I was not the only one with BSOD issues due to the Atheros KillerNIC onboard ethernet. Sort of wishing I had used a different motherboard lol.

One stability issue may be the fact that I am using Ableton Live 9 x64, and I am having to use something called "jbridge" to get my x86 plugins to work, I am sure there is some funny business there too. I just have to make a habit of saving my recordings constantly in case of a crash I won't lose all of my work. That would anger myself and the people I record.

Its just weird, I can get a solid week or even more 24/7 operation. Lol, I have a regular HDD and a mapped network drive that is saving my surveilance feeds. Not wasting the write cycles of the ssd recording 24/7. For the time being, I am hosting my surveillance on my diskstation ds713+ so I don't lose any recording, but the interface is crap compared to video insight hosted on the pc in question. Would be my luck that the pc would bsod while the office was broken into.

Ill post that dump info ASAP cause without that y'all cant help me.

Thanks,
-Will

This is the only part of the .dmp I found relevant. It is from the crash today.

Bios is F7.
SSD Firmware is R1311.
This computer is used for a recording studio, albeit a growing one, and I had stability issues with the Firewire pci-e card and a focusrite saphhire interface. So, I am using a focusrite scarlett 6i6. If you understand the concepts of routing audio, you will understand that the onboard sound was utterly useless.

I simply do not have $5000 yet to drop on a rednet pci-e card and the rednet 1's and rednet 4's I need to complete the loop with 512 channels I/O at 3ms latency.

I will try installing Windows 8.1 on a 2TB caviar black I have my assistant thought was going to work in the synology diskstation ( lol they have an easy to find hdd compatibility list). Its been running all night, in fact I am going through it on teamviewer right now.

I have been googling the issues with a program called "jbridge", like i said earlier it is a bridge that allows x64 Ableton Live 9 that allows x86 plugins like omnisphere ( I MUST have omnisphere) to be seen.

USB Audio would normally be a no-brainer decision to not use, but these are not normal circumstances.

When I run games in downtime not recording or producing, I have yet to get a BSOD. It has been when Live was open with an x86 plugin running. By the way, its important to know I am using the Focusrite ASIO driver and Mixcontrol to route audio inside of the computer.

GTX770 is a very odd choice for an audio workstation. Bit of an overkill that will also bring unnecessary load to your PSU. If you had stability problems before with those cards odds are the rest of your system was never stable to begin with.

Ok, but I did mention the whole "gaming" part in downtime.

Anyways, the problems persisted even without the graphics card and using onboard graphics. I just downloaded and reflashed the BIOS, something I did on a now ancient Conroe setup I had with an Asus p5b deluxe. Even though that in itself probably did not fix it, there were some questionable BIOS settings used that I believe ultimately led to instability. All of that I did Sunday, as a last ditch effort before reinstalling windows again. It is now 6:15 pm Tuesday, and Prime95 has been running on all cores torture testing. Was even able to run Live to do some track work. No BSOD since.

For all those that have thrown in their two cents, thanks. Sometimes its the small things, as I did but no longer allow administrative access to my assistant.

If anyone screws with it anymore my hidden IP security camera will have all the evidence I need to b1ch someone out.
