I just set up my home network. The new comp is on XP, the old one is on ME. Both computers are connected to the internet, but the ME computer cant open internet explorer. It can connect to kazaa, bnet, msn and everything but when i open internet explorer, nothing happens.

The problem is that when i unhook the router from the computer, the internet opens just fine. Can anyone please help me?

I cant get internet access, but Internet Explorer can open. It cant even open when the internet is connected.

Hmm. Did you use the Windows Home Network Setup Wizard thing to setup the network? Try running that again, see if that fixes it.

Reinstall IE. Put the setup executable on a cd or something and run it from the ME machine. Since it has internet connectivity it should go ahead and install. You could also just use Firefox. You should be using firefox in lieu of IE anyway frankly but yes, some sites do prefer IE. You could probably also remove IE completely in Add/Remove, windows components since your dealing with ME, then install it the same way.

Have you checked for Spyware? I had the same sort of problem on a customers XP box. I didn't think nothing of it because it was brought in to clean the spyware off. I tried to go to Windowsupdate while I was doing so cleaning and the browser wouldn't open. I finished cleaning the spyware and IE started working again.

Your best bet if you do try to clean it is download the latest versions of Spybot / Adaware and burn them to a cd. Then remove the infected machine from the network and install and clean.

Good Luck.
