Browser hijack removal

What is the best way of removing a particularly nasty browser hijacker?

I am trying to sort out a friends PC and have scanned the drive with these

Spyware doctor
superantispyware
nod32
norton IS 2009
trend IS 2009

and it's still redirecting me to crappy sites!

please help, i'm running out of ideas
