Ever since I've built this system, I've been struggling with hard drive corruption. Since I haven't been able to find any answers to my issue, I thought I'd turn to the best source of tech know how I can think of - the [H].

The drive in question is a seagate 7200.9 250GB Sata 2. The drive will develop mild corruption after between a day and a week of use. I've tried running memtest and prime 95 overnight to check for errors, but don't find any. Any insight would be appreciated.
 
Those 2 programs are not disk scanning programs, they are for the CPU and RAM. I don't know the best thing to run on windows but in linux I would run a badblocks test. Take a look around and see what people like to run a drive test in windows and run that.

You may even try speedfan and look at the SMART status of the drives, the onboard drive bios might be reporting something speedfan will post.
 
I know they're for the cpu, but I wanted to check that bad memory wasn't writing to the disk. SMART reports no problems. I've updated the firmware to the latest version as well.

The odd thing is that seatools, seagate's test software reports that the hardware is fine, but there are problems with my file system.

I've even tried a low level format on the disk with no change.
 
Have you thought about the possibility of it being the controller malfunctioning? What tests did you run with smart?
 
It occurred to me that it could be the controller, but its been doing this with 2 different motherboards - a DFI Ultra-D and my current board, an Asus A8N-Sli Premium.

I've used different cables to make sure it wasn't that also. I thought it might be due to overclocking, but it does it at stock too. In fact here's are my parts if it helps:

AMD Opteron 146
OCZ 2GB Platinum 3200
Enermax Liberty 500
Evga 7800gt
 
I just got speedfan and it reports this from SMART: The overall fitness for this drive is 97%. The overall performance for this drive is 98%.
 
Sorry for the slow reply, but I had to go out. chkdsk keeps finding problems, and when I go to launch programs, it takes longer than it should.

I haven't let it get very bad, because I keep repairing the damage, but usually chkdsk will show that there are errors in the mft bitmap
