Simple surgery with a soldering iron and some hand tools is all it takes to replace it.

Sure.... Advice follows.
If you have never soldered before don't start by trying to fix your Live drive.
You will end up ruining it.
Find someone that can fix it and take it to them, so they can ruin it for you.
Barring that advice take a picture so we can see WTF kinda damage we are talking about here.

My father has carpentry experience and solders alot, would there be a big difference in that and electronic soldering. I will post a picture when I can, but for now, I can say that the 3 pin from the left is broken and about 1/4 of the pin is still there, there is also an odd yellow-brownish circle around the pin (water damage rusted it off?)

It sounds like the pin burnt cause they don't usually break unless you really abuse them.... and they don't corrode all that easily either.

That picture says nothing. I think you may have your camera set on manual focus by accident, or you need to set it to macro (closeup) mode.
Do you have an electronics class at the school you go to? I'd talk to them or to your shop teacher (if it's high school) or someone in the engineering dept. if you're in college. The teacher or one of their students can probably help you do what you need.
