Broken Laptop

I have a Dell Inspiron I8000, and it will not boot. When I plug it in with the AC adapter, I can hear that some fan inside is spinning, but that is it. Then the DVDrom makes some noises. The two fans at the back of the computer never spin. All of the lights (num, caps, scroll, harddrive, battery) are all green. The power button does nothing, and there is absolutly nothing on the screen.

Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot what is wrong? or should I just take it into a professional computer repair store and pay for them to look at it.

Thanks!

Could be something to do with the RAM. If you have 2 sticks in there, try them one by one.

Ok, I just took out all 2 sticks of ram, and put them in 1 by 1 in both slots. I tried all combos, so I can safely say the problem isnt the ram.

any more suggestions, remember that the screen dosent show anything at all when I plug it in.

Also, The laptop just turns on when I plug it into the wall, and will only turn off if I unplug it.

Thanks

no, no extended warrenty. I have no idea what is wrong with it.. It's a shame, maybe I will sell it for parts on Ebay......

damn

Yeah, with Laptops I cannot stress how important the extended warranties are. If you are not able to crack open a laptop and get the parts for cheap, then yeah...

But have you tried asking Dell?

Ahh that's always a problem with laptops. Although really, whenever i see a desktop machine act like that, it's usually the ram. But with a laptop it could be anything in there. I've always wanted to have a wack at working on a broken one, let me know if ur really selling it.

the early inspiron 8000 series were notorious for flexing cases, the more the case flexes, the more likely it is that components on the motherboard will be damaged, which is likely the case with yours.
