Broken Hard Drive(?) Need to get data off

My PC wont boot anymore (i have tried CMOS and BIOS settings, even reinstalling windows but it says windows cannot access hard drive to install) anyway I dont mind losing my programs on my PC but I cant afford to lose all my music (about 2000 songs), is there anyway to get the data off and transfer it to my laptop?
 
You could pick up an external enclosure and pop the drive into that then try to transfer the files over.
 
If the windows install had problems finding the drive sounds like your only real hope is to drop it another machine and see what happens. If that still does not work there are a lot of linux data recovery tools that may help -- depending on the type failure -- though if you do not have any linux background knowledge it may be overly complex.
