I have Radeon 9600pro and i realized the other day that the fan on it had stopped spinning. I am going to RMA it but im in school and don't have the packaging or a replacement card for another 2 weeks when i go home. The games i have played with the fan off have ran fine with only one crash so far and i don't even know if that was from heat. I was wondering is it safe to play games with no fan?? It has what seems like a good heatsink on it and that gets really hot after i finish gaming but seems fine when i don't game. should i take it out and not use my computer for 2 weeks? should i not play games but continue to use 2d apps? or should i just do what im am doing now and contiue to play games? is it gonna hurt? thanks

yes, its bad to run 3dapps on a card w/ no fan when its only the stock heatsink.... if you plan on keeping the card and having it work. if you're rma'ing the card indefinitely, i'd say do whatever the hell you want with it. if you lived in a hot climate and left your pc running for some time, the fan dies, the card fries... it should be covered under the warrantee. so play if you must, if it fries it fries, just make sure that the card is under warrantee, including the fan.

btw: have you checked the wiring for the fan and made sure the header is plugged in properly and that no wires were removed from the molex splice?
