Broken DVD drive

I think my drive might be broken. When i burn using instant dvd, it always fails. I bought quality DVDs so i dont think they are the problem. So basicaly, is there a program that will test my dvd drive to see if it really is broken or should i just get a new one?
 
Have you tried any different programs to burn? it could possibly be a compatibility issue with the program and the optical drive. BTW, what DVD drive is it?
 
Generic drive. And i tryed nero same thing. But anyways... i fixed it. Someone had the same problem as me on some other fourm i found through a google search. Just a driver issue
