Hi all - first time posting, I hope someone can help!

I have a Dell S2209W that does not work. Dell replaced it, and instead of picking up the broken one they asked me to dispose of it. But I'd like to take a crack at fixing it instead.

When I plug it in and turn it on the display is all white - it's definitely 'on'. Connecting my laptop to it via HDMI or VGA does nothing (except confuse my laptop.) Pressing the OSD button does nothing, the screen just stays all white.

I want to open it up and see if there's anything obviously wrong, like a loose cable or burned out capacitor. But there's the first problem - I have no idea how to disassemble this thing. It's pretty tightly sealed.

Anyone have any experience with disassembling this line of monitor?

Anyone have any other ideas how to try and fix it short of hitting it with a hammer?

Awesome, that worked, great advice. I just ran the guitar pick around the seam and was able to pop the front bezel off. From there it was just a case of working my way through the various little connectors, trying to memorize what was being pulled out from where.

The problem turned out to be the main connecter to the LCD panel, it wasn't pushed in all the way on one side. Put it back together and voila, a working monitor!

Now I need to figure out what I'm going to do with it. Might make it a dedicated Wii monitor, or an external monitor for my Hackintoshed Dell Mini 9. ;-)
