Broken component on 9700pro GPU core

My brother's 9700pro fan kicked the bucket. During the removal of the yellow thermal pad material i slipped and popped off one of the surface mounts parts on the GPU itself :eek: .

what are the chances the card is going to work without repairing the part or the chances of repairing the part? :confused:

I'd give it a 33% chance, but a picture would help.

The chances of repairing the card is 100% if you have the tools, steady hands, and you haven't powered it up yet. I'd give it a 25% chance of frying if you just try it right now, so it's your call :)

Disclaimer: numbers were pulled outta my ass, but should be reasonable...
 
If it's a resistor...you may not even need to solder depending on what one it is, since a good majority of them are pull up resistors to set the mode only. In the case the resistor is one of the 10K Ohms resistors, a simple No.2 pencil trace conencting the contact pads will work.

Definitely post pics so we can see what one it is.
