Howdy
I am planning to deploy a bunch of Brix i7 computers for a project. I have ordered the first one, and I would like to start formatting a hard drive so it's ready when the unit arrives. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this most efficiently? I would like to install WIN8 PRO as the OS and somehow use an image to duplicate the setup (other files, software, etc) for identical units!

Works like a charm for me..

I also partition the drive to get about 100GB for system, another 2xRAM size for swap and remainder is data...
In case of backups you just grab the data partition.
In case of cloning you just clone the system partition.

PS: If you need something like LogMeIn on them, you have to install that on a case by case basis after cloning, or the clones will be the same for the central server..

I have not done this, but willing to try.
Can I create the disk image before I get the system or do I have to have the disk sitting in the computer?

The current Brix uses mSATA drives, right? You would need an mSATA to 2.5" adapter to use it in a normal desktop.

The preferred method is to get Windows installed/updated/drivers on the first Brix, then use Sysprep to create a deploy-able image.
