BrightView, how good is it?

I customized a laptop today at Office Depot and found myself tranced by the 'BrightView' monitors. I paid 75$ to upgrade from a 15" TFT to a 15.4" XGA widescreen, but then topped that off with another 50$ for a 15" XGA BrightView widescreen. What is it about these screens taht makes them picture quality? How much does it normally cost to get one and what machines are they featured on? How big of a deal is this? I think that this whole BrightView thing will be the next way not so techy people define 'new' and 'old' laptops.
