I would just like to know a little bit about the brightness rating on LCD monitors. I am looking at buying a Samsung 971P and it has a brightness rating of 250cd/m2. Is this good?

I'd really appreciate some help with this, thanks!

I would just read reviews on the monitor and make sure it fits your bill. See if brightness has been an listed issue. Any LCD I've touched, I've had to turn the brightness down so I'm betting you could shift your focus on many other considerations if you haven't already.

Compared to most lcd's that have an eye burning brightness of 300cd/m2 or higher, yes that's very good. You will probably still have to turn down the brightness alot to so that the whites don't hurt your eyes.
