I have a 2407WFP-HC with 1 stuck pixel. It displays bright pink on a white surface like word documents, but does not appear to display on black.

According to dell's DP policy, I need 1 dead bright sub pixel. But mine doesnt fit the bill because it doesnt show on black. But its bright pink, so shouldnt that be "bright" or something?

Anyways, the problem is that I'm trying to get it fixed but the guy in India doesn't seem to want to process it. At least thats what I think hes saying from the thick accent and bad reception.

Can someone please explain this to me?
:(

Have you tried massaging the area or running jpixelfix?

Massaging my laptop LCD fixed it.

You have three subpixels, red green and blue. If it doesn't show up on black then none of them is 'stuck on' (or bright).

Just think about it, if you display a white image all subpixels are lit, if one of them fails you will only get two subpixels for that pixel. Meaning either red and green, red and blue or green and blue. Seeing as the result is pink I'd bet that the green subpixel is turned off at all times and the result is red and blue (pink) when it really should be white.

Thanks to both of you.

I tried jpixelfix, and it didnt fix it. But seeing how this monitor is 2 years old, I'm not too surprised.

Ill try massaging it and tapping it some time later. Maybe if messes up a few more pixels, Dell might do something about it. Ha! They say you have to tap or massage it pretty hard, is that true? How hard is "pretty hard"?

Thanks for the explanation brumwald.

I didn't really massage all that hard, I just gently massaged the screen for about 30 seconds and it got better.

On my BenQ I massaged in concentric circles up to about 5 inches away from the stuck pixel. It fixed it eventually but it took about 1 hour of light work.

I also used a cloth instead of just my finger.

I didn't press too hard but still applied significant pressure.

BTW, it was a "stuck on" red pixel.

Tried running jpixel for 8 hours, no luck.

The guy I originally bought it from is in the process of getting it authorized by Dell. So I'm going to hold out for him first before I move onto more drastic approaches.
