I have a 320gb HDD that I violently yanked out of an HP Media Center. I has a SpeedFAn SMART score of 94%.

My computer will not recognize the storage device. WTF?

Help, and TIA

um..BIOS doesnt detect it or you dont see it in Windows explorer/my computer ??

don't see it in windows explorer. IDK about bios, I guess it would have to if SpeedFan sees it...

No, don't format it, you probably just need to assign it a drive letter in Computer Management.

No, I can't even see the drive to Format it. I want to Format it, so I can use a clean new drive! I see no drive whatsoever to I can't format it though...

So when you boot up the computer, your BIOS doesn't even see it? (You have not answered that question yet.)

Right click on My Computer, Manage.
Goto Disk Management. Do you see it in there?

You probably just have to initialize the disk first.
