Breaking the 2TB barrier issues - looking for help

I got a 4TB Seagate drive and a Adaptec 1405 SATA controller.
My PC (Windows 2003 server) will only recognize the drive as a 1.7TB.

Windows2003 is supposed to support 4TB. Also, I initialized the drive as GPT.

Could the Adaptec controller be the limitation?

Yes. A lot of controllers designed before 2010 do not support > 2TB drives.

Edit: Although this seems to say otherwise.

I believe the 1405 does not support 4TB. Pretty lame for a $160 host controller.

Now, I need to find a new controller with the following requirements:
- good hotswap support
- Win 2003 server support
- 4TB
