Hey, I just got my Logitech X-530's, this is my second attempt with Logitech, my first set (400watt speakers, this is a downgrade :() died after a while. I don't want to take any chances so i'm wondering if I should run them low for a little while before blasting them? they aren't that loud so I turned the bass down a bit and have it 3/4 volume, which is kind of low for me. Is full blasting them on the first day a bad idea?

Yes, it is bad to blast them on the first day. While I don't believe in the sonic signatures changing due to burn in, I do believe that the diaphragm and other moving parts will settle through play time.

If the parts are still quite rigid, and you blast them, and the drivers aren't used to that length of excursion, I'd say goodbye to the speakers.
 
oOoOo thanks, they are really not loud speakers, I had a set of 400 watts, those were LOUD, these aren't bad though. I dont have bad ears! just big ears.. but thanks again for that info
 
Oh another question, how long before I can blast them? I will always leave my sub knob at half power if that helps?
 
heh i noticed in software the speakers were only up 50%, now at 100% 3/4 is too much!

Oh, I dunno. Some people say 12 - 24 hours. To me, I don't burn them in. I just play them on a sound level that isn't compromising the speakers. Eventually they will become burned in.
