I have an LG BR drive in my computer that I use to watch and rip blue rays and I have used it for years with no problems. I put the computer in storage for about 6 months and now that I have it out, cleaned it's working fine.

Except now, the drive hangs up when I put a BR disc in it. The light flashes at like a 1hz rate and you can hear the drive like it's trying to read the disc, but never does. It wont eject the disc afterwords either unless I use a paperclip to force release it, or reboot the computer and pull it out before the computer gets back into windows. However, if I put in a regular DVD, it will read it just fine...

WTF?!?!

The DVD and Blu-Ray portions use different lasers on the pickups.

If you are handy and it's out of warranty, you might want to pop it open and do some dusting. I have to do this to my Mac Mini's DVD drive every few months. The air being pulled into the enclosure also pulls air and dust into the built in DVD drive. I also live in an old dusty house, with pets, and that makes it way worse.

If you can't get it to work the good news is that Blu-Ray burners have come down in price. :D

I didn't realize there were 2 separate lenses in there. I cleaned it out and the result was the same so I guess it's newazon or whatever it is time.
