That's right EVGA is sending out bad checks that are being dishonored by the banks and may cause you to spend coutless time cleaning it up and paying a fee for the improper deposit.

Took the EVGA rebate check to Chase, which is the bank the rebate check is drawn on, and Chase refused to pay saying the funds could not be paid on the account. EVGA has gone dark about reimbursing the bad deposit fee being charged by the bank.

EVGA says they will replace the bad check. No doubt another 10 week wait.

Bouncing the rebate check is disgusting. Shame on you EVGA. No more business from me.

Lol what? Are they hurting that bad? This is interesting indeed. Thanks for sharing...

I did some searches and haven't come up with anything on EVGA rebates bouncing. I did find a lot of stuff about Chase being messed up with their check cashing policy. If this is a single incident than it has to be a problem with Chase. If it starts happening frequently its a problem with the rebate company. If that happens EVGA will change rebate companies and honor their rebate commitments. You may be jumping the gun a little by pointing the finger at EVGA, although I know how frustrating it is to have rebate money owed to you and not being able to collect it.

Google Chase check cashing for more horror stories. If you dont have an account at their bank they will do everything they can to hold onto that money. If you do have an account with them.... well, your probably used to being screwed.

most companies dont do the rebates. They have 3rd party companies do the rebates for them. So while this looks bad on evga chances are its not their fault, but the company they hired to do it.

Have you contacted eVGA customer service about this? They might have contracted a 3rd party company to do it but ultimately they are the ones that are profiting (either in money or negative reputation) from checks bouncing. Good luck getting this resolved -- if it happened to you its probably happening to others. Keep the thread up to date, please!

Please update us with what you find out from EVGA CS. I am very curious to hear what they say. I hope they stand by their rebate.

Hope they make things right with you.

If it were me I would return the EVGA product to the store and demand a refund + any bank fess for the bad check.

I heard it's already a pain to gets those rebates in the first place.:(, can't imagine going through bounced checks on top of that

Normally I would agree, but no retailer is going to take it back with the UPC missing. It's false advertising to offer a rebate and not honor it. Sadly not worth getting legal on them for a $20 rebate (or whatever the amount is in this case) and the rebate processor probably knows it. The best you can do is avoid eVGA in the future if they don't make it right.

I would just actively avoid rebate deals altogether, most cases you can find a straight deal for just a little bit more at most

To continue with that line of thought, could you contact the BBB about this and see if they will investigate it?

Agreed with Direfox - at least give eVGA a chance to respond. Assuming you called and didn't play email tag, then this should be resolved fairly quickly. If they aren't overnighting (or at least Priority Mailing) the check, they will risk egg on face though.

Man, I wish they would just outlaw rebates. Takes months to get the money back and they have you filling out so many forms and questions trying to trip you up. Sapphire was the most ridiculous Ive ever experienced. I had to go to one website to register for the rebate, then go to another to actually sign up for it and print out the rebate form. Had to fill out hundreds of little boxes and such and initial a ton of places. And if you missed just one, your were disqualified from getting a rebate. My favorite was you had to print out the address form and tape it to your envelope. There was no secret code or anything on there, just an address but if you didnt have the "official" label printed out and taped onto the envelope, yep, DQ. Hand written address? DQ.

That's utter garbage, and EVGA ought to be embarrassed for whatever role it has in this. Condolences to the OP.

But stories like this as well as my own experiences are the reason I actively avoid rebates and choose straight prices (sometimes just even out of spite). It's a sneaky, reprehensible practice, and I can't believe some would even defend it.

I personally stay far away from MIR.

But I will also say that since moving away from chase my life has gotten 100x easier. If you are still banking with them then you are a glutton for punishment.

I was about to submit my EVGA rebate but noticed it said the address had to be the same as on the invoice. I called them up to tell them I had moved a few days after receiving the card and they said it will be declined. he then said that after it gets declined then to call them up and resubmit it? wtf? what an asinine rebate system where they cant even take care of this up front and will make it take twice as long. rebates are almost a scam but I make sure I get my freaking money in the end just on principle.

EVGA does not handle their own rebates, a third party does. However, I'm sure calling up EVGA customer service will help get the problem resolved.

Notify USPS you are changing your address and forward all your mail to your new addres; you should be doing this anyways since all you want the rest of your mail right (and not some BS you just made up). Put in your old address to eVGA, they'll send it to your old address but USPS will forward it to your new address. Problem solved for you.

well I already filled out everything and sent it out plus stuff like that may not even get forwarded. I had already done a change of address at the post office but really I dont normally get much regular mail except for a few catalogs. the few people and businesses that needed to know my new address were already informed.

Well i think it is annoying at the most and all the complaints and blaming in the last sentence in the OP are understandable, except that I think "No more business from me" sounded like a whining child who didn't get his candy.

I too am interested in this

Couldn't have said it better myself.

We have 4 different parties involved here. We have EVGA who for the most part offers great customer service when you are dealing directly with them, the rebate company that bids on the rebates and is going to do everything it can to deny them, CHASE bank which is a festering mass of evil at the top management and a cluster of incompetence at the bottom (dont take my word for it, do some research), and finally the OP that has a total of 10 posts, hasn't posted before this since 2007 and hasn't returned to this thread to follow up or provide any proof.

Clearly we should all boycott EVGA.

There have been any number of third party rebate centers that have gone down the toilet.

I would say this is the deal here and not EVGA.:D

Anxious to see the real deal here.

and that's why, unless it's an instant rebate (or a substantial amount of money), I don't even bother with them. It's a pain in the ass, you have to wait countless weeks upon weeks to even get it (IF you even get it) and it's usually for some silly amount of money that not really worth my time.

Quite honestly, I have never been stiffed on a rebate.:)

While it does take some time, and I never count on them, I have not had any problems.
My only beef was once with MSI. I bought two GPUs for Crossfire and they would only honor one rebate per purchase/household. I should have had my Mom buy the other one!!

Hmm, was looking into getting an EVGA card, might wait and see if this gets fixed.

"No more business from me" sounded like a whining child who didn't get his candy.

I don't find the comment childish at all. If you get ripped off from a company it makes perfect sense to not recommend the company and not ever do business with them again.

Yes, but it's probably NOT evga. It's some rebate firm that has FUBAR'd the checks or gone belly up.

Still evga should let people know what the deal is.

It is still EVGA that slaps on the reduced advertised price and enjoys the likely increase in sales on its products (they even advertise it on their own store front on their website)

Just 'cause the shady pieces of shit they contract out the service to fucks up doesn't absolve them of responsibility.

sorry, but youre dead wrong. if it was the retailer (say, newegg) advertising a lower price on this card and offering a rebate, then newegg would be accountable for the rebate company. this is evga advertising a lower price, and evga contracting out their rebate. i dont care if the contractor sucks balls, they have been employed by evga and evga is responsible for their actions. evga should make it right, and then penalize or fire their rebate contractor if they have problems. or better yet, any responsible, customer-respecting company should ditch rebates entirely.

I blame both the retailer and the manufacturer but the manufacturer is the most responsible.

I have demanded a price match from 2 different retailers( Amazon and Frys) when a rebate offer didn't happen as promised and both retailers stepped up and responsibly honored the price match on the rebate.

With Amazon it was done over the phone and with Fry's I had to take the video to the store and demand a refund or price adjustment.

EVGA does not send out the checks...your beef is with the rebate company..Not EVGA....
