I'm just curious. What would be the bottleneck processor for a Radeon 9800 Pro?

Hmm, I hope that made sense on what I just asked. I mean on both AMD and Intel's side, what would be the slowest chip to use with this card and still get the full potential performance from the video card.

I have an AMD T-Bird 1.4ghz and isn't that a bottleneck for my 9800 Pro? I will be upgrading soon thou.

I would say anything below a 2.5 ghz P4 or an Athlon 2500+ would be a bottleneck for those cards....but this is just a guess.

yeah circa 2.6 should be the bottleneck.. i know my setup bottlenecks this puppy in some games..

IMO its a combo of CPU/memory/FSB speed that makes the bottle neck. My 9800Pro is FER SHORE held back by my main board components and shitty 400mhzFSB speed. Hence the custom rig I'm building to gain more gaming horse power.

I see you are slapping an Intel mobo in your custom rig.. why? dont you ever wanna overclock or what?

You can do that burn-in on those mobos, which raises the speed of everything by 4%. You can't overclock anything in the usual sense.

Ah I see. Well......if the MB doesn't seem to get the job done and it seems a OC'able board will improve performance.....I'll pick a different one up. Mother boards are cheap anyways.

if you only got it for 20$ then i bet you could get some good money for a good OCer with that thing off of Ebay;)
