I just did a fresh XP install on my gaming rig and my 9700pro worked fine until I installed the catalyst 5.4 driver. After installing the driver and rebooting, the XP logon screen was heavily artifacted and eventually froze the whole computer. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver and still did the same thing.

I got a ton of artifacts and eventually freezes the whole machine. It freezes it to a point where I can't even remote terminal into it from another machine. I just installed an old radeon 8500 I had laying around and it works fine. I guess this is the end of the road for my loyal 9700pro :(

RMA?

Funny, my 9700 Pro started going out in my LAN rig. Its slowly dying, pretty sad time.

I dont know about you, but I bought it a month after launch, so there's no warranty left on mine.

Oh well, time to throw something like a 6800nu or if I can find a cheaper X850XT (and move my main rigs X800XL into the LAN).

man, mine 9700pro just died about a week ago.... =( ....went out and bought an AIW X800XT ....hehehe... =)
