I setup 12 2.4Ghz P4 Dells w/ FAHConsole and the taskmanager(windows 2000) to run them on computer startup. The problem I am having is that these are public machines and students are trained to log on and off when they are done. Logging off stops the task. These are only run 5days a week for about 9 hours so every hour of folding is critical. Any suggestions would be great.

You can set them up as scheduled tasks or have them run as a service. I use the scheduled task method, so I'll only comment on that. First, create the scheduled tasks to run when the computer starts. Then add the -advmethods -forceSSE and -service flags to the command line. The -service flag is the one that will keep it running when they log out. It probably won't matter in your case, but you should also go into the advanced settings and uncheck the box that stops the task if it runs for more than 72 hours. Let us know if you have any problems with this!

OC-AMD runs more than 400 machines with all the clients set up as scheduled tasks, none of his clients are set up as a service.

install it as a service, it runs as long as the computer is turned on, that way, you can run 7 days a week 24 hrs a day as long as the computers are powered up
use either of theese:
admin script in the sticky at top of forum:

or my version of it, makes instalation a little less obvious(takes it out of c:/ and puts it in program files/common files and uses the output of the "net view" command as a hitlist for remote install)
