well i was sitting in math today, staring at the overhead projector while my teacher's monotone voice was putting me to sleep. i thought of a really weird case idea, I myself dont have the money, materials, or tools to make something like this happen, but its a thought for some of those modders with seemingly limitless budgets.
OVERHEAD PROJECTOR PC

you would have all your main parts, mobo, proc, everythign else in the box itself, and maybe an lcd, or a projector if you can find one small enough on the top part. as you can see, i was really really bored today in math. if this is a really stupid idea, please let me know, cause it seemed pretty cool at the time

that would be one hell of a mod.........but i'm in ur boat........i'm not rich

Wouldn't work as a projector - the lights required would be AMAZINGLY hot and would burn up your system real quick, unless you had both the light and the system watercooled..

Now that's an idea, a watercooled overhead. *nods* Glad you came up with it and not me, that would mean I'm nuts.

Wait. Shit. :p

ya the amount of light required would really make this not very possible...

plus the focus would be weird becuase remember on an OHP what is being projected is on the glass... not behind it (inside the OHP)

Ok, here goes:

Get a projector at an office supply store, or when the local board of education does their annual surplus auction to offload old gear. If local options are anything to go by - maybe $10 for the projector in non-functioning condition.

Do the mod as described for the base.

for the projector itself - That will be what costs the money. you could get a small LCD projector and either try to mod it into the existing lens assembly on the arm, or make it look like it was originally there. Hide the wiring in the arm itself. If you are not going for games or movies your projector cost will be fairly tolerable, if going for the movement support your costs will be much more.
