Anyone know if there is a demo for this for PC or PS3?

I keep seeing things that it is kinda of diablo with guns and FPS but have no idea how it really plays and I don't want to pay to find out.

It's a fun FPS - almost tongue in cheek. Zero plot though. It's not like Half Life 2, for example. If you're in doubt, then just wait a while longer. You'll be able to buy this one for five bucks pretty soon.

It's... diablo with guns without a lot of the replayability. There's no point in rekilling a boss or redoing anything in that game.

It's still fun to play through once or twice...

borderlands would have made a fun mmorpg. that said, i found it boring as hell, but pretty :p

One of my favorite games from last year. Great gameplay, addictive, lots more to do thanks to at least two of the DLCs. If you're the kind of person that likes to shoot a lot, explore for treasure, build yourself up, and shoot some more you ought to eat this thing up.

ya, its a lot of fun, was really worth the 1/2 off deal steam just had. works just as well as a SP or MP game.

i was trying to guage the co-op aspect of it. Trying to find something to get my regular L4D players into.

yeah, its a good time, but not like L4D. If you die you just respawn and run back to the battle. if you all die the bosses get back their health, but the minions stay dead. Its fun but really cooperation is useful but not necessary.

Its fun , but don't play it too much , its really easy to get burnt out on.

good timing, I was also thinking about getting Borderlands, but after reading some comments, may be later when it's like five bucks.

It's cool until you get screwed with hacked items you can't drop. There's ways around it but it's a pain in the ass to have to deal with.

or when you beat the main story line of the game before your even level 35 and the top level being 62.. now im at the point of why do i even bother playing the game anymore..

i started re-playing the game, is anyone interested in playing online, possibly rolling new characters? xfire = xxfuryoffivexx add me if your interested. (so far i have a lvl 20 soldier, lost my other solider who was in the mid 30's

Have you played Red Faction: Guerrilla against the marauders? It's similar, but FPS. And some more Road Warrior, and burning ammo like Mass Effect 1 and 2.

ooo road warrior, always liked quarantine better :)

just to make sure, things don't respawn (like enemies) so if you play to a point in co-op and then start again everything is still dead? what if you go backwards to another area/statge?

That's what the second playthrough is for. I hit 50 midway through it, and once I bought the third DLC I reached 61 well before the end of it.

I regret purchasing it, I wish we could sell our steam games. It provided about a week of decent co-op gameplay with 4 friends but we finished the entire game in a week. There was no replay value aside from trying a different class or playing the game over again with all the stats jacked up (enemies harder, but you get more powerful weapons and higher levelling). Tried playthrough 2 for awhile but got bored quickly. I don't typically like replaying games if they are basically the same thing all over again.

Agreed. I thought there was going to be a LOT more content to the game but my friends and I beat it once in only a few nights, and then sludged through playthrough #2 in a few more... albeit begrudgingly. You could do worse, but get it on sale and only play with friends for sure!

Co-op is very fun for my group of friends with this game. Put 100+ hours into it since January. Play-through 2 was worth it as the game was a lot more challenging than the first play through. Even better is to skip all but the main story in play-through 2 to get to play-through 2.5 and then do the side quests as they will really be ratcheted up in difficulty. :)

All the DLCs have been fun for different reasons so far. Cost is cheap if you split it between multiple players.

I could see it not being as fun single player, but in multi its one of my favorite games.

I got it when it was released, right at the same time as Dragon Age. I was actually more entertained by Borderlands than I was by Dragon Age. I found it to be a fun romp with a lot of fun loot.

Playing it felt like a poor man's Fallout 3 with less depth and more humor. Kind of like Nox compared to Diablo 2.

you are given missions, which may contain multiple tasks. the tasks are to go somewhere, collect something or kill someone. Once you complete the task it stays completed. Enemies and bosses will respawn though if you go to the area at a later date. That is what gives the game replay. As you can see, some like replaying for better loot, others don't.

awesome game... except i dont wanna buy THREE DLCs... my friend and I beat the game and were like WOW AWESOME!!!!! and then the DLC starting coming out, i am waiting when they have a buy 1 get 2 free option for 10 bucks...

if you buy any of them.. get the DR Ned zombie DLC or what ever its called.. completely forgot the name of it.. but its well worth it.. makes L4D a pile of crap.. and its so much fun running around with 4 shot guns blowing zombies heads off.. and then when the big guys come in throwing flaming barrel's at you and blowing them up right over the guys head and killing em.. well worth the money.. the other 2 are meh.. except you can get some pretty nice guns with the underpass DLC in a hidden gun crate on the map..

I put about eight hours into this game when I bought it, then walked away - but because of this thread I returned to it.

Now I'm stoked for this Dr. Ned thing. This is a fun game. The shooting feels great. I can't remember why I stopped playing now?

yeah i walked away from the PC version completely after about 2 days of playing it.. my cousin finally forced me to play it on the 360 and have to say the game feels completely different on the 360 and is 100 times more playable.. stupid console ports..

Hmm, not sure about the above post - obviously the PC version is going to look far better and because of modders, you can add custom levels as well. Also there are reported frame rate issues on the consoles as well. While it is a port, it is done really well that it hardly feels like a port. Plus I still think that FPS and using a mouse is the best you can do.

None the less, I picked this up recently and its FANTASTIC. I had been really enjoying Dragon Age/Settlers 7/L4D2 combo and this has completely hooked me and made me forget about those three. If I start getting burned out on Borderlands which people frequently do with a game this addictive, I will head back to Dragon Age and the start of the Quest for the Sacred Ashes where Im at at the moment :p

About Borderlands - Its just a combo of the cool art style, the wicked sense of humour, the really easy accessible shooter gameplay and the whole rare loot aspect that makes you just want to play one more mission or do one more loot run. I have been playing alone for the most part and been having a blast but I am going to go online on my second run through (as I dont want my first one spoiled by people running through missions).

The variety of guns and the different areas etc - its like a 3D Diablo with guns and super fun. No wonder people put hundreds upon hundreds of hours into this. Don't miss it!

I think the only people who would make that correlation, played Fallout 3 too much. (Great game btw.)

What are you guys using for a controller? I haven't been into PC gaming for a few years.

hmm i may have to try that.. been having the urge to play the game again on PC after i beat the game with my cousin on his 360..

The game is fantastic on the PC when you fix it up right. :) Turn the auto aim off in the game's menu, too. :)

def in my top 5 for 2009. And as far as complaining about content? People say they beat it with friends in "only" a couple nights? lol I beat most games "alone" in 4 to 6 hours. So going by that standard, with friends i would have run through mw2 in 1.5 hours.

This thread has got me interested in theis game again.... thanks for the tweaks. I have done some of them, but there were some new one's in there. I played this game for a couple of weeks and lost interest. I'll have to dust it off...

I don't believe a lot of that chatter.

I did surprise myself by seeing that I put 106 hours into that game...by myself 99 percent of the time.

All you need is that guy's utility tool and you're good to go. Turn off auto aim also. I think you'll be quite happy with it. :)

Got this on the half off deal and been playing through with a friend. So far it's been fun, there is a certain satisfaction to leveling up, getting a better gun and then becoming a badass for a short while until you run into something even more hardcore. Looking forward to playing all the way through.

That said, there will undoubtedly be some kind of "Borderlands Collection" at some point containing all the DLC, so you may just wait until that's announced, and then the original game will be cheap.
