Sorry if this is being posted in the wrong section, I'm not sure where it should go.
Anyway, I'm trying to boot Ubuntu Studio from my WD MyBook External HDD. I downloaded the file, burned the image to a DVD, booted from the DVD, and installed it to the HD. Made a Linux-only partition and everything. Now, when I go into BIOS, the option to boot from USB Device either A) does not appear or B) Gives the error message "Selected boot device not available. Press F1 to retry, Press F2 to go system settings." I've plugged the HD into multiple USB ports, unplugged all USB devices except for the mouse and keyboard, and changed the boot order in BIOS, nothing works. When I boot from the DVD (You can select to "Try Ubuntu Studio" from the boot menu) I can see all of the system files on the Linux partition, but cannot access them, since I am not logged on as the administrator of that partition (only can happen by booting via the partition).
What am I doing wrong? How can I get the BIOS to accept the USB device and boot from it? Did I make a mistake during the installation process, in which case, how can I uninstall the OS and reinstall?
Incidentally, I partitioned a good 100GB (of my 1.8TB) to the Linux partition, so I would like to be able to use that in some way, instead of just wasting it in some worthless partition.
