I dont know if this has been asked before, but I was just curious, will there ever be a solution for older platforms to have a bootable pci-e SSD? ive seen some adapters that only allow you to use a pci-e SSD as a secondary unit, but not as a primary bootable one. What if I run a hackintosh?

I only ask because i have no reason to upgrade from Sandy Bridge-E except for the desire to use bootable pci-e SSDs.

My current rig is:
3930K
MSI X79
4x4GB Corsair DDR3
GT210
Seagate 600 250GB SSD
Seasonic G650

I was really really hoping to hang on to this machine for years (3-4 more years) to come since I really dont do much except for video transcoding and occasional photoshop that would need to push the machine.
 
The UEFI on a lot of X79 boards is modifiable to allow NVMe SSDs to be bootable. You might be able to get one of the Intel 750 ones to work, but I'd do a little research first.
