Hi everyone, I am Jericho and very new to this forum. I just bought a macbook pro two months ago and will never switch back to windows again. I was just wondering about a bootable firewire harddrive that is supported for macs that I can buy because I do one heck of a lot of work and dont want to lose it (if that is possible on macs). I have found recommendations on this site that tells my the other world computing's ministack and mercury elite are good choices. Here is the link to see them http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/. I saw the iomega, but dont know about that one.
Here are my questions.
1. Has anyone tried any these firewire drives and likes them.
2. Does anyone have any cool ideas that I could use these firewire harddrive for. For example, I am planning to use it for superduper to create backups all the time. I am new to this hard drive thing, I would some cools things to know that I can do with it. The mercury elite has 200gb of space, firewire 400 and 800 ports, usb 2.0 ports. There is a version with esata, should I get that. Just tell me the cool things I could go with it.
3. I heard that if you use superduper to perform backups, then that is all you can have on that harddrive since it will erase everything else. For example, say I want backups plus files from other computers on it. Will it erase them. Also, is there a way to create multiple partitions so that I can use this as windows and mac harddrive.
Please explain things for me. Everyones help will be really appreciated.
