Boot Disk Fail

Hey everybody, I've done some searching but I figured I would ask anyways to get some input. Starting yesterday my computer would not boot from the hard drive. I would restart and it will say "Boot Disk Fail". If I have the Windows XP SP2 cd in the drive it will say "Press Any Key to Boot From CD". I'll just let it run and it loads up windows nicely. Once I get into windows I can access everything off of the drive, run programs do everything. However, when I load up Diskeeper (defrag program) it says "MMC Snap In Failed". Doing some searching on that it, Microsoft says to basically ignore it.

I have my HDD as my primary boot device and my CD as my 2nd device. The drive is a <1 month old Seagate 7200.10 320Gb.

Starting tonight I plan on running a program to fix bad disk sectors and see if that will come up with anything. Or possibly doing a repair install of WinXP.

Any help or suggestions what is wrong is greatly appreciated.
