Boot Device Error

Hi there

I installed a WD 1TB Blue Edition 3.5" SATA3 Internal HDD as a second hard drive in my PC (Windows 7).

I formatted and partitioned it and it worked fine.

But when I restarted my computer a few days later, I received a "Reboot and select proper boot device" error.

I went into BIOS and made sure the boot devices were in the correct order (with Windows Boot Manager as first). They were. I also tried disabling every boot device except WIndows Boot Manager. I kept getting the error though.

My power supply is 400W which I think is adequate. I have also tried removing the drive and re-installing, but keep getting the same error.

Any ideas appreciated.

What does crystaldiskinfo say about the disk? If you can't boot with the disk installed try hot inserting the sata cable after the system boots.

I can hot insert the cable after the system boots, and the drive shows up. But when I restart the computer, the same error comes - Reboot and select proper boot device....

Crystaldiskinfo says the disk is healthy (pasted below).

I do not see anything that is troubling with the SMART. Not sure why the drive is causing the boot issue.

Yes I concur about SMART - looks pristine.
And you say it works fine on hotplug.

So it's Windows Boot Manager.
Can you simply select the actual drive (choose the make and model) in CMOS as the primary boot device and disable every other?
