Boost audio output from laptop

I have an HP laptop penitum 4, and the level of the audio output is very low and I was wondering if there are any programs (free or buy) that will increase the output level.

Did it come with any EQ software for whatever onboard solution it uses? If so look in there or try and crank it up as high as possible in your control panel settings. Thats the only two things i can think of.

there are no eq settings, and in windows media player, the eq is flat

If all your volume controls are already up then anything else you do in software is just going to cause clipping and it will all sound like shit. This sounds like more of a hardware problem than a software problem.

maybe check out some headphone amps to boost the sound.

Yeah, if all of the volume controls are up on the comp, then you'd need an external amp.

maybe it's line-out and not headphone out? in this case you'd need an amp
