BOINC + Cryptocurrency 'x' supernode project

Hey,

Cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin have run into a serious issue as of late.

The issue is that the majority of full/super nodes (nodes that provide the backbone bandwidth for the network) are mis-configured and or are not the latest version of the client (version fragmentation, leading to massive security & stability issues)

You can read an article on the topic here:
http://www.dirjournal.com/business-journal/bitcoin-necessary-resources/

So I was thinking, would it be possible to create a BOINC project where the work unit was a pre-configured light weight cryptocurrency daemon for supernode/full-node purposes?

Such a project could eliminate mis-configuration and version fragmentation and overall massively improve the stability of any cryptocurrency network.

There would have to be a open-port check dependancy prior to running work units, as supernodes behind firewalls is bad for the network.

However, I believe such a project could aleviate some of the issues that the article above is discussing.

Does anyone have any experience with the creation of a boinc project?

Thoughts anyone? :)

Perhaps a mod could move this out of DC Guides forum into the DC or Crypto currency sub forums.

Did you try contacting BitcoinUtopia? They might be interested in something like this too. Also, that link doesn't load for me. Has it been taken down or is it just something on my end?
