Don't know if this really goes here but we have a video receiver unit that has external video port and its type is BNC. Its screen is small and we want to hook it up to a a larger screen. So what do you use for this? A BNC to VGA/DVI/HDMI cable will do the trick or does it have to be a converter? like in here:

or something like this will do:

It has to be a converter I think...........I'm not sure.

BNC isn't a format, it is a connector. More information is needed. Is it a single BNC connection, meaning composite? Is it 3 BNC connections, if so it is R/G/B or Y/Pr/Pb? It it 5 BNC connections meaning RGBHV?

What kind of output determines what you need.

I kinda of know what you said. It is a single BNC connector. I want to hook that to a TV screen or a large PC monitor.

Thanks.

Ok that means it is a composite connection. That means a 480i signal maximum. So if you want higher rez, you need a different output. To connect that to a TV is easy, just get a BNC to RCA cable and hook it to the composite (yellow) input. Some computers monitors support that directly as well (Dells tend to) otherwise you'll need a converter.

However remember composite is limited to a low resolution and suffers from color smearing, ringing, and overshoot due to the combining of the luma and chroma signals.
