Blurry Text on new LCD

just got an IBM T860 refurb LCD for 400 bux, got it sight SEEN so i could tell what was up with bad pixels etc, only problem is a slight blue spot to the left, but other than that no bad pixels

now the problem text is blurry in some parts of the screen but not others, and there's a slight shadowing effect

i am currently running it on this computer with a rage 128 and through the VGA analog in, the monitor has a DVI input, but i have no DVI cable, and the vidcard doesn't have DVI out...

is the blurry text and shadowing a result of the analog? old videocard? or is it just broken?

i have a Radeon VE that i will plug in soon to check on this myself but i figured the people here would be more helpful and quicker than installing a new videocard and getting a DVI cable

Is your videocard set to the native resolution of the LCD?

Use the Cleartype feature that comes with WinXP.

where do i find the cleartype feature of XP

and yes the vidcard is set to the native res of the LCD

control panel -> display -> appearance -> effects

also, make sure the refresh is set at 60Hz.

sounds like you have a crappy cable and/or video card though... try a better VGA cable (at least one with ferrites), then try another card.
